Harnessing Solar Power to Rebuild Displaced Communities

In the heart of central Mozambique, where displaced communities struggle with the aftermath of natural hazards, a new project will bring solutions in the form of sustainable energy.

With the support of Innovation Norway and NORCAP, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is launching an innovative initiative that uses Energy Mesh Grids to power homes and businesses in resettlement sites across Sofala and Manica provinces.

"Rebuilding my community is rewarding. I've learned to mix cement, use new tools and build stronger roofs".

Maria is one of many female artisans working on a resilient house construction and rehabilitation project in Beira, helping homes stand strong against climate shocks. With the active participation of local artisans and in close collaboration with the community and local authorities, IOM has completed over 1,000 resilient roof repairs as part of ongoing reconstruction efforts in Beira.
